SolarisCare is a not-for-profit organisation focused on improving the lives of cancer patients and their carers by providing the support to cope with emotional and physical side effects of cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Kirsty’s reputation as a communications expert motivated SolarisCare’s invitation for her to join the board – an invitation which she readily accepted.
The appointment adds to Kirsty’s existing board roles with the WA Mining Club and Australia Oil and Gas Women.
Kirsty said it was an “absolute delight” to be invited to join the board of SolarisCare, as she had been longing for an opportunity to get involved with the not-for-profit sector.
“The not-for-profit sector is in a significant state of flux with organisations such as SolarisCare really struggling to make its voice heard,” Kirsty said.
“I’m excited about leveraging my expertise to help SolarisCare increase its profile, as well as being involved in setting the strategic direction for the organisation.”
SolarisCare has recently held its annual RedSky Ride, which has raised more than $350,000 for the organisation and will be a key marketing focus for Kirsty in the future.
Kirsty has 17 years’ experience in the corporate communications and public relations arenas.
During this time Kirsty has worked as an in-house consultant for BHP Billiton, Woodside Energy and Alcoa before establishing Platform Communications in 2006.
Since then Platform has risen to become the fourth largest communications company in Western Australia, based on staff numbers.
